UW-Madison’s Center for Limnology is excited to welcome the public to our annual Open House at Trout Lake Station. On Friday, August 1st, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. interested members of the public are invited to get a behind-the-scenes look at lake science in action! Attendees will learn about the 100-year history of the Station, what all our research boats are doing on Vilas County lakes each summer, and how the data we collect helps protect freshwater ecosystems here in the Northwoods—and around the world.
Located just south of Boulder Junction, our team of scientists and students studies everything from invasive species and sportfish populations to shoreline restoration, aquatic plants, and water quality. This is a great opportunity to see our work up close and explore what makes Wisconsin’s lakes so special.
This free, hands-on, family-friendly event features live demos and exhibits, boat rides on Trout Lake, aquatic-themed crafts, and up-close looks at fish, plants, and the latest in lake research technology. We’ll even have free ice cream from UW-Madison’s Babcock dairy!
Whether you stay for 30 minutes or the whole afternoon, we’d love to show you around and talk about the world-class science happening right in your backyard.
Free and open to the public—no RSVP needed. We hope to see you there!
