Dear Alumni, Colleagues, Neighbors and Friends,
Like so many research centers around the country, we find ourselves in uncharted waters. Federal funding that we rely upon to fulfill our mission is suddenly an uncertain proposition. These funds support important research on our precious freshwater resources but, more importantly, they support people. In these challenging times, our commitment to producing world-class research on the waters of Wisconsin has never been stronger.
This is especially true of our work to train the next generation of freshwater researchers.
That’s where you come in. For the next 1848 minutes (in honor of the date it was founded) the UW-Madison’s Day of the Badger fundraising campaign is live.
Help us provide undergraduate students with life-changing research experiences!
This year, every gift we receive goes straight into our fund for summer fellowships both at Hasler Lab in Madison and up north at Trout Lake Station. What’s more, each gift (until we hit $14,400) will be matched – doubling the impact of your donation. Our goal is to raise a total of $28,800 for four undergrad fellowships – but hopefully we sail past that number and get even more students our on our lakes!
The link to give is right here.
This is truly an opportunity to directly benefit some promising young students and provide them with unparalleled, hands-on experience collecting data, conducting research and sharing information on our lakes, rivers and streams.
But don’t take our word for it, here’s what some of last summer’s fellows had to say.
We’d be honored to receive your support – and our students would, too! It is a vote of confidence in the work we do, the people we reach and the future we are hoping to create – one where world-class research on our lakes, rivers, streams and wetlands can play a crucial role in helping manage and conserve them.
On, Wisconsin!
