UW photo essay features Steve Carpenter’s conservation efforts – on land.

Most readers of this blog know that our former director, Steve Carpenter, is a world-renowned expert in freshwater conservation. But what you might not know is that, in his down time, Steve and his wife Susan have spent the last several years working to restore a patch of native prairie on their land in Wisconsin’s Driftless Area.

Luckily, University Communications got wind of Steve’s side project and decided to put together a beautiful photo essay of the story. Click here to see their work (and meet their dog, Jasper!)
